3/ How to leave your home of 30 years and move to Mexico.
And all of this just for one year!
Trying to manage all these details made "cat wrangler" seem an appealing career choice. As the departure date drew nearer, the leading generators of stress were a set of cascading to-do lists that seemed to get longer, rather than shorter, with each passing day. Even the morning of our departure brought no relief, as our flight to Houston was delayed to the point of a missed connection. So we waited one more day in Seattle—a blessing, actually, to spend that time relaxing and to have one last evening out (with officially no house, no car, and no possessions aside from those we were taking with us). Finally, on June 19th, we walked down the jetway to the plane, taking with us 4 suitcases, two daypacks and one guitar. Then, at 9:00 pm local time, we set foot in Oaxaca, Mexico—nearly 7 years after I saw the headline on the cover of International Living.
